The Brief Introduction of Communist Youth League Committee
In North West Normal University
The Communist Youth League Committee consists of the following eight departments: organization department, publication department, science technology department, practice department, general office, the authenticating centre office for expanding university students’ qualities, the training centre of university students’ abilities and the League member training school. Now there are 19 sub-committees, 63 general branches and 558 branches of League. It entails 20450 League members which takes 76.2% of total number of the youngsters in the whole university below the age of 28 (there are 13116 undergraduate League members, which is 91.6% of the whole number of undergraduates who are younger than the age of 28). Among them, there are 10270 female members and 2127 minority members, which take up 50.34% and 10.46% of the entire League members respectively. In addition, there are 37 League cadres, 27 years old on average, full-time and part-time, in whole school (among which there are thirteen full-time female cadres).
Under the leading of the League committee of Gansu Province and the Party committee of the university, the school organization of League Committee brings the new ideas in the course of inheriting the former advantages and develops them through innovation, heightening the rate of contribution of the League’s work to the quality-oriented education with the spirits of “advancing with the times, walking with our country, and standing with the youth all along”. So that it has got outstanding achievements both in the aspects of serving for the general situation, serving for the youth and the self-building of the League.
Especially in recent years, the organization of League at university holds the great flag of Den Xiaoping theory highly, studying and practicing the important idea of “The Three Representatives” seriously. It encircles closely the important work of school, solidating the working principle of ------ “Serving, creating, developing and harmonizing.” Led by the plan of exploiting the young people’s potentials and juncture by of implementation the plan of extending undergraduates’ quality, it pursues the truth and reality, opens up and brings forth new ideas, strengthens continually the capability of its service for the young graduates. Following working principle of “basing upon school and paying attention to overall situation; strengthening the constructions and concerning more on creating; putting individual in an important position and emphasizing the realization of services; opening up and creating new ideas, setting up famous brands; enlarging communication and improving all-round”, it devotes much efforts to build up League organization of study, and promote the work of the League in our school.
The League Committee of our university taking advantage of ideological education,actively promotes a series of activities including: “Belief-Built Action” “Politeness-cultivating Action”, “School-loving Education Action”, “Mental Health Action” and “Life-Directing Action”, and builds an all-round ideological and political education system. It takes advantage of practice education, deepening plans such as “the Plan of Academic and Technological Promotion”, “The Plan of Campus Culture”, “The plan of Prospering Mass Organizations Activity”, “The plan of Developing Through Social Practice” and “The plan of Excellent Students”, from which constitutes the high-grade quality－extending practice system. It takes advantage of organization education and activity, makes creative changes for the League in the field of the organization ensurement mechanism, the work operation mechanism, the evaluation encouragement mechanism, and the team building mechanics etc. As a results a scientific organization operating and developing system has been established. It takes advantage of fronts education, extending the propaganda field, the Internet Cyberspace field, the activity field and the cooperation field, and builds the open positional operation system. It promotes a series of activities such as the propaganda activity of “The Three Representatives”, the activity of “College students’ promise of being persons of politeness”, “The week of loving university”, “The Technological and Cultural Festival of College students”, “The forum of experts and scholars”, “The forum of the young excellent students” “The blossoming of lilac Flower －the recitation performance of Chinese Classical Poems”, “The Singing in September”, “The Month of Arts”, “The contest of teaching skills”, “The Drama Festival”, “The debate of NWNU CUP”, “The Selection of my Favorite Teacher” and “The Selection of Inspiring Students, all of which are labeled as “High-grade, Easy-development, Focusing on creativity” ones.
The League Committee of Our University has been continuously entitled for “the youth red-flag League committee” for 21 years. In 2003, the League committee won the honor of “National Red Flag League Committee.” Besides, “Lan Tian loving”, the activity of traveling by bikes, got the prize of “Outstanding cultural activity” in the seventh spiritual civilization construction of “Five engineering” of the League. In 2006, the school League committee was awarded “The national advanced community of subjective educational activities for strengthening the awareness of the League members”, “the plan of advancing the university students’ qualities－expanding by the way of credit system” got the prize of “Excellent results in the institutions of higher education campus cultural construction”. The work of social practices of college students was appraised to be advanced in the whole country for 12 years.
